Bunong Cameroon

Association profile

Founded in 2019, Bunong Cameroun is a non-profit association based in Douala with the aim of promoting solidarity and mutual aid and the promotion and implementation of development projects in the Banen regions.

The deficits in the areas of water and electricity supply, school infrastructure and medical care are very noticeable. To contribute to a sustainable improvement of the living conditions of the people and their participation in society in Cameroon is the goal of Bunong Cameroun. To achieve this goal, the organization works closely with the directly affected local population groups to precisely identify the problems associated with the lack of infrastructure in these areas and to develop support concepts that lead to long-term improvements.

Our Aims

According to its statutes, the work of Bunong Cameroun includes the following areas:

-Promotion of the idea of unity, solidarity and mutual aid among its members.
-Promotion of cultural diversity and richness and dissemination of the Tunen language.
-Support, promotion and implementation of development projects in the Banen area.
-Support of the Cameroonian youth.
-Search for action communities of the Banen diaspora in Europe.
-Promoting solidarity and unity between other communities that share the same goals.

Through our activities, we would like to support the efforts of the population or local governments in rural areas that lack infrastructure. In order for this to benefit as many people as possible, our offers should be open. Bunong Cameroon’s work is therefore primarily based on the personal experiences of its members, most of whom come from the affected localities. These members already support their families in many ways, which gives Bunong Cameroun numerous opportunities to make a targeted and concrete contribution.

Our work is based on the principles of mutual respect and democratic decision-making. Bunong Cameroun wants to contribute to a sustainable improvement in the general living conditions of the people in these places, who are largely left to their own devices. For this reason, Bunong Cameroun places great emphasis on on-site needs assessments, organizing meetings with key decision-makers, and on-site visits. In this way, support concepts and projects are developed through mutual exchange.
