On the 17th of July 2020 at 8 am, the Bunong e.v. moved from Douala to Pitti Dibamba which is located at 16 km from Douala in the littoral region of Cameroon. It has a mixed population of Banen, Bassa etc.
The journey began early in the morning under a bright sunny day and It was easy to locate the village, it only took one and a half hour to get there. On our arrival every think was ready, that is to say the headmaster of the school, the teachers, students, parents, some villagers and to our greatest surprise the chief of the village his majesty Mounkam was there ready to give us his support. Immediately we arrived, we were well received and directed into the headmaster office where we had a brief chat with him and the teachers. As part of the discussion the headmaster inquired about the conditions of our trip and express his joy to have us among them. Followed by the representative of Bunong e.v. Mr. Sokmack Kapale who expressed on his behalf and on behalf of the Bunong e.v. his joy to be among them and he also used the opportunity to enlighten them about the origin, signification and the objectives of the Bunong e.v.. The headmaster and teachers later on took us round the school and we visited each classroom and we were able to see all the problems that the school face like lack of desks for the student, the blackboards, windows, doors, no library, insufficient classrooms ongoing uncompleted buildings. The situation is so precarious that two classes are held in the same room.
The Ceremony itself began with the address of the headmaster, followed by the speech of the representative of the Bunong e.v. and it was concluded by his majesty´s allocution. The headmaster in his address thanked the Bunong association for their enormous support toward the St Gerard primary school and pleaded on behalf of the school for more support in the future considering all the shortcomings presented to us. As for the representative of the Bunong Mr. Sokmack Kapale, he thanked his majesty, the headmaster, the parents and the villagers for having been present for the occasion. Secondly, he presented the gifts which were constituted of Books, Pens, Pencils, Computers and their accessory, Laptops, masks, Soaps and Bucket and assured the people that this was just the first step and that there is more to come within the means of Bunong e.v.. To conclude, his majesty Mounkam express his huge gratitude and reminded the Bunong e.v. to always remember their homeland.
Lastly, the parents’ association of pupils offered a warm banquet for the occasion.
